This has to be the best breakfast spot in AC, they have very good customer service, good food (awesome pancakes), and prices are reasonable. This location right across the Tropicana is awesome. God only knows breakfast in the Tropicana is mediocre at best. The rest of breakfast is pretty good as well, regular, eggs and potatoes. Place is clean and well maintained, breakfast in/out very quick.

The pancakes are really good - thin and almost crispy. The rest of the meal was standard diner fare. Friendly service and funky location.

They are located in the Atlantic City Aquarium on N Rhode Island Ave. I've been to this place several times this year and always had a pleasant experience. For brunching by the water in Atlantic City it doesn't get much better than Gilchrist on the docks! The wait might take a while, but with the chill dockside vibes and banter from fellow brunch revelers, it doesn't feel too long at all before you're led to your indoor or outdoor table of choice. While the indoor area is great for the colder off-season days, there's something about eating along the dock of the bay with the boats, birds, and dogs that's perfectly zen. Even more so when you can enjoy doing BYOB along with your bottomless coffee! With omelets like meat lovers and crab & spinach, hot deli sandwiches and wraps, and huge waffles and pancakes; there's plenty of food to enjoy. But the after beer fest energy had me craving one of their Hungry Man Combos which also gave me a chance to try some of their HUGE famous hotcakes. I normally find brunch pancakes to be basic and underwhelming, but theirs were rich and flavorful. Toss in a full plate of scrambled eggs and sausage and I was full in no time. With good vibes and delicious food it's no wonder that they've been a brunch institution since 1946!

I give this place a four based on the patio seating view. So beautiful on the water. It's picturesque and very peaceful. The food is good and servings are perfect! I've been here a few times, this time getting the crab and spinach omelette. It's made with real fresh crab. It wasn't fishy or salty. The rye toast was really good. Maybe a local bakery? The creamed chip beef was good but not the best I've had. Lacked a little flavor but thankfully not too salty. The service was great with many servers helping one another. Our coffee mugs were never empty. Good coffee, by the way. I want to come back and try lunch. The menu looked good with a lot to offer. It would be another good excuse to chill out on the patio.

2nd time here when visiting AC. Still a great place for breakfast. Right on the water near the aquarium. No car? Take Jitney to aquarium and walk 2 minutes or Uber/Lyft.

This place was awesome. My son recommended it because he stops by every time he is in Atlantic City. We were staying at the Tropicana and I told him there was another location there, but he said no, we had to go to the original and he was right. The breakfast special is huge and delicious. It was right next-door to the cruise that we were going to take later that day. The place was packed. The weight was long, but it was well worth it. I loved the free parking as well. I loved eating outside on the water.

ATLANTIC CITY: Gilchrist Restaurant has been serving up delicious breakfast and lunch since 1946! The food is excellent with all the morning and afternoon favorite foods you are looking for. You have to try the hotcakes - they are famous and delicious! The outdoor seating allows leashed and friendly dogs and is covered on top and the sides to make it an indoor/outdoor experience with views of Gardner's Basin. This place is popular and fills up fast, so make sure your pup doesn't get under foot hunting for scraps. The food comes out fast and turnover can be quick. The outdoor space is on boardwalk-style floor over the water! 804 N Rhode Island Ave Atlantic City, NJ 08401
